I taught as a professor at the Academy of Art and at the Multimedia Lab I helped build at Kala Institute, from the same CGI and HTML books I helped write.

Problem The web's own how-to literature didn't exist yet, and neither did a classroom for it.
Solution Technical-edited and contributed to CGI/HTML/virtual-space books, then taught from them as a professor.
Result Readers and students learned the frontier from me before it had settled into a discipline.
